If your company uses different units of measurement for one product, this article will explain how to properly inventory in Kladana.
For example, your company:
- buys fabric in rolls and sells as pieces,
- buys fruits in tonnes and sells in kilos,
- buys spices in kg and sells in jars,
- buys metal in tonnes and sells as lists, etc.
For that, you can use Packaging in Kladana. Let’s imagine that you buy fabric in rolls, count them in meters, and sell them in pieces. How do you set up that in Kladana?
- In the product card choose or add the main measurement for inventory. In our example, it is a meter.
- Then, you should add packaging. For example, we purchase fabrics in rolls and sell them in pieces. So we need to add the roll as a package and specify the number of meters in one roll. We should do the same with the pieces.
- So, when we create a Purchase Order, we use package roll. Kladana automatically calculates it in meters and the total price.
In the Receiving, it also will be as roll.
- If we check the stock report, we see how much fabric we have in meters.
- Now, we need to sell in pieces. We create a Sales Order, add the fabric, and choose “pcs” as the package. Kladana recalculates according to the package amount. Stock will be deducted for that amount and the price will be calculated accordingly.
This is an example of how you can use packaging to buy, sell, and inventory products in different units of measurement.
