Manage product variants

Product variants are the same products slightly differ in some characteristics. Product variants allow you to maintain a record of items with the same SKU and are often used in the clothing and footwear trading.

Create product variant

1. In the Kladana workspace, select Inventory → Products and Services.
2. Select the product in the list or create a new one.
3. In the product card select the Variants tab on the right side of the screen, and click +Variant. You can create a product variant or add new values to the existing variants.
4. Specify the characteristics of the product. For example, color or size. Enter values for each characteristic. All characteristics and values are stored in the catalog. You can further use them to create variants of other products.
   
5. Click Create variants.

The variants are displayed in the product card. If а product has two sizes and two colors, four product variants will be automatically created. Unnecessary variants can be removed by clicking on the cross icon at the end of the line.

Unused variants can be archived. This option is convenient, for example, if the variant is no longer produced or the product characteristics have changed.

Edit product variant

Product variants can have their own characteristics: code, product and package barcodes, prices, images, Reorder Point. Their values can be different from the parent product ones. If the values are not specified, the parent product card values are used by default.

1. In the Kladana workspace, select Inventory → Products and Services.
2. Select the product in the list. The product card will be opened.
3. In the Variants tab on the right side of the screen select an existing variant or click +Variant. The variant card will be opened.
4. Сonfigure the variant:
   • If you want to set unique sale prices for the variant, in the Prices tab click Setup prices.
   • If you want to add an additional attribute, in the Attribute tab click +Attribute and fill in the values.
   • If you want to add unique images, in the Images section click +Image.
   • If you want to set Reorder Point, in the Reorder Point section uncheck Use parent product values, and select the setting variant.
   If the variant settings have no changes, equal settings of the parent product are used as default.
5. Click Save.

Import the catalog of products with their variants from Excel

You can quickly import multiple products with all the variants into Kladana from an Excel file. When importing for each variant the following characteristics are specified:

• Type (Product variant);
• Variant unique code;
• Parent product code;
• Product variant characteristics (Ex.: color or size).

You can also set a special price and add an image for each variant.

Add products with their variants to the transaction

If you want to add a product variant to the transaction, enter the variant code in the search field or scan the barcode. The variant is added to the transaction as a standalone product.

If there is no suitable product variant, add the product to the transaction. Click on the product title. In the opened product card, add a new product variant.

Product variants report

If you want to display product variants in reports, specify it in the report settings.

For example, to view Stock by product variants, select Inventory → Stock,
click , and select the Split by variants checkbox. If the checkbox is unchecked, the products and product variants data is displayed in general, without variant subdividing.
